Creative Music Making Camp 2016

by TO ensemble

Ever dream of expressing yourself on your instrument fluently, improvising and making music free from confines of notation? Creative music making camp is a 3 day workshop conceptualized by award-winning composer-pianist Tze Toh and conducted by soloists of TO ensemble. The workshops focus on natural music making and teaches techniques that allow young musicians to develop their own personal expressive language.

Learn from professionals about the framework of improvisation in a fun and exciting way through internalizing rhythms, deciphering the relationship between scales and chords that make the improvisation process often so magical, yet seemingly unattainable.

The camp covers the different genres and basics of improvisation, ensemble playing, accompaniment, techniques of practising improvisation etc. This will allow the performer to develop unique individual ideas on his/her instrument, creating a compelling performance/improvisation by the end of the camp.

All participants will record their music in a studio on the last day of the camp and receive a recording in wav/MP3 format.

*Note: All instruments are welcomed. Suggested: piano, string instruments, voice, woodwinds, percussionists.

Participants will be expected to bring their own instruments (excluding pianists).
