Venue: Esplanade Recital Studio
Description: TO ensemble presents a concert of a story of post-apocalypse future world where a third world war had devastated the Earth's surface and forced humanity to rebuild their civilization in the heavens in the form of massive sky-cities. In this new world, Man has given up on nature, and turned to technology for salvation and proclaimed themselves gods.
In Song of the Skies, the Girl in the wind sees a meteor shower and learns from an ancient one that the shooting stars are not what they seem – they are in fact space debris falling back into earth and burning up upon re-entry. She then discovers that the space debris and junk crowding in orbit around Earth was the reason why humanity failed in its attempt to create the space program that could have allowed him to rebuild civilization in space or relocate Earth's population on distant worlds. When an extended meteor shower happens and a large debris makes impact, she races to the crash site where she encounters an extra-terrestrial life-form, The Messenger which has been observing Mankind throughout the ages.
This concert/audio-film is a reflection of the impact of Man's actions on the natural environment, and focuses on his relentless consumption of material goods and the accumulation of waste today.
Featuring original music that combines choral music, jazz, cinematic scores, and Indian music, this concert promises to be an exhilarating blend of technology, art, and musical expression
